Beza CUPCAKES dan MUFFIN

Ada orang cakap muffin.
Ada juga yang sebut cupcakes.
Kita sering kali bertanggapan mereka adalah benda yang sama kan?
Muffin adalah cupcakes, vice versa?
SALAH.
Muffin dan Cupcakes adalah dua benda yang sangat berbeza.
Cuba lihat :

Dari segi rupa, cupcakes biasanya ada topping atau icing sementara muffin pula di makan kosong sebab di dalamnya sudah ada pelbagai ingredients macam buah campuran, kekacang, cip coklat dan berbagai lagi. Biasanya cupcakes ni di makan sewaktu parti atau sambutan hari istimewa manakala muffin pula di waktu minum pagi atau petang.

Dari segi teknikal, cupcakes mempunyai texture yang ringan dan gebu manakala muffin mempunyai texture yang kasar dan agak 'berat' Kalau kita baling cupcakes ke dinding, kemungkinan kita nak dengar bunyi tu tiada atau sgt perlahan tapi kalau kita baling muffin ke dinding, kita akan dapat dengar bunyi macam 'thuds' gitu. But pleasee...jangan baling itu muffin atau cupcakes ke dinding ok! Muffin juga tak semestinya manis seperti cupcakes. Ia boleh jadi sedikit pedas, savoury atau juga plain.

Ini pula resepi untuk cupcakes dan muffin :


Chocolates cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 eggs

Directions

  1. Measure out everything but the eggs directly into your mixer bowl
  2. Mix on low speed just until incorporated
  3. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes
  4. Add eggs, beat on high speed again for 2 minutes
  5. Transfer batter into a container with a pour spout (like a pyrex measuring cup)
  6. Pour batter into ice cream cones, leave a good half inch between the batter and the top of the cone
  7. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean

Blueberry Muffin

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cup white sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour muffin pans or use paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter and 1 1/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture, alternating with milk. Mash 1/2 cup berries and stir into batter. Fold in remaining berries.
  4. Fill muffin cups and sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and wait 20 minutes to remove from pans.
